VJSTICK: PROGRESS DIARY - WEEK 4
VJSTICK: PROGRESS DIARY - WEEK 4
Thanks for checking out our diary for this week. Despite the rising impacts of the Covid-19 virus and ongoing country-wide lockdowns, we were been able to continue work, remotely. Here are details of development work for Week 4.
Design
Design for this week focused mostly
on Character Animation. We were able to bring in low-poly mods, rigged them
accordingly and proceeded to animate necessary movements for future simulations.
We also did some work on the Console UI, especially on the loading screen.
Our next phase of work will
center on the adaptation of the earlier designed running tracks, into various versions
for the different categories of race. We may also revisit our Controller UI as
we reconsider a customized version for the running game alone.
Code
With the rigged mods provided by Design,
we were able to integrate our control algorithms and run animation renders.
With the results, we continuously tweaked our codes for the best balance and
simulation. Alongside the unit, we were also able to finalize on a perfect camera
position after considering a couple of other options.
For next step, we will quickly finish up work on
other sub-routines like pre-race actions, as well as integrate things
like player markers, timer, etc. We also intend to begin serious work on the backend, relying on the previous framework we have already done on that.
Media
Our media pick for the week – two
clips showing both our animation and camera tests. Enjoy!
See you next week!
